Our youth struggle to know their value. Personal value is essential in believing life is worth living. So how do we determine our REAL value? Typing in “Value of Life” to an internet search engine will bring up a calculator - a mathematical calculation which will determine the dollar value of your life in insurance premiums were your life to be ended today. Guess what though? That does not give any replacement value based on heart premiums. Just ask a parent who has lost their child to cancer, or to a drowning accident. There is more to the value of life than dollars can dictate. Ian Usher lived in Sidney, Australia. He and his wife of 12 years had gone through a divorce. Everything around him was painful; every piece of furniture a reminder of a life with her that hadn’t worked. In his anguish and frustration, with his life, his situation, and his day-to-day routines, Ian decided to creatively write himself a new story. Given our highly technological world, rather than ride off into the sunset, Ian took photos of his possessions, his home, his world, and set up an online auction. He opened the bidding - auctioning off his entire life. He sold his life on e-Bay (everything he owned) and now he is traveling the world accomplishing 100 goals in 100 days! Kari Smith sold her forehead as advertising space for $10,000. Across her forehead, in big black tattoo letters is the web address GoldenPalace.com. What are good values and what are losing sell-outs? What choices give you more life or less life? What dictates the value of a forehead, a life, or a soul? Is it the economy, the lack of wrinkles, the productivity level . . . what dictates the value of YOUR life? And just because a person CAN sell parts of themselves and their identity, should they? What are the hidden messages in our media, our clothing trends and our cultural habits? Are you concerned about your youth selling their lives short by using drugs, tobacco, prescription drugs or mega-caffeinated drinks? Are you worried they may be losing sight of their REAL possibilities? Contact Tiffany Berg for a Value of One Youth presentation today! |
