You have within you Untapped Leadership and Influence |
Every captain is a good captain in still waters. Great captains are only revealed when the ocean gets rough. In every case, great leaders have been revealed by how they contrast the difficulty of their environment and their circumstance. When we look to mentors, spiritual advisors, or success principles, our process of evaluating their intrinsic value is how it (or they) perform(s) under the most critical tests. Success principles must thrive in the litmus test of pressure. Great leaders stand the test of trials, upheaval of circumstances, and in the face of adversity. That is why we place value and honor there. In our personal lives as well as in our businesses and teams there is no room for fluffy direction or problem-ridden advice. None of us want to get in rough waters and find that the hype we've been clinging to is a surf board with a shark bite out of it. We don't want to be the next bite. What we want is solid inspiration to guide us through the very real storms in business, management and in our personal lives. How do we navigate this set of circumstances? These team-members? This personal crisis? In times of change people's energies must be redirected, the goal must be clarified, relationships and loyalties expressed, and the value of staying in tact reaffirmed. Real inspiration gets us to shore. Clarity of process is our objective - success therefore, is our R.O.O. R.O.O. = Return On Objective The value of the success principles we use is only as high as the quality they produce when implemented. Do we have the tools for success that will bring us our R.O.O. - our objective? Words of success need to be the words that guide us through the turbulence of change - through real life crisis and corporate upside-downs. Be the captain who knows the weather changes every single day. And then know yourself and your team well enough to change with it. Dealing with change?
